
Theme: "A vision beyond victory – Kathika"
This society is designed for talented students in Grades 3 to 5 of the Primary Section, with meetings held every Monday after school hours. It guides students towards various competitive opportunities while developing their oratory and communication skills. The society organizes the annual “Kathika” Oratory Day and conducts inter-house debating, oratory, and announcing competitions with awards and recognition. Members also take part in announcing duties during school events and ceremonies.
Theme: "A logical appeal to the inquisitive mind"
The Senior Society is for students from Grades 6 to 13, focused on developing confidence, speech, and logical thinking. Weekly training sessions are conducted every Monday from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM to enhance oratory and debating skills. It organizes the national-level “Vaganjali” festival, bringing together schools across Sri Lanka. Members also participate in external competitions at provincial and national levels under the Ministry of Education. In addition, the society conducts inter-house debates during the school’s Annual Sports Meet.
The Viharamahadevi Buddhist Society, composed of students representing Buddhist, Catholic, Hindu, and Islamic faiths, has been active since the school's inception. As a Buddhist school that began amidst the sounds of Seth Pirith, the institution prioritizes Buddhist religious programs while welcoming students of other faiths to participate in these traditions. Throughout the year, the society conducts numerous noble activities aimed at guiding students toward a future rooted in discipline and spiritual virtue.
Theme: "Environment protects us; let us protect the environment"
Recognizing that we are all stakeholders of our environment, the Environment Pioneer Society was officially established as a formal organization in 1997. The society works to involve the entire school community in constant environmental engagement, fulfilling the responsibility of shaping lives in harmony with nature. Their primary mission is to transform the school premises into a green, productive, beautiful, and clean environment through dedicated service.
The Quiz Society works to enhance students' subject knowledge and general knowledge, encouraging them to apply their intellect logically to achieve success. The society organizes competitions at the class, grade, section, and school levels to foster student interest. Furthermore, it identifies and directs talented students to participate in zonal, provincial, and national level competitions.
Theme: "A healthy life through good conduct"
Established in 1980, the Health Society promotes student well-being and healthy living across the school community. It organizes blood donation drives and maintains a sick room to provide first aid for students. The society also runs a daily herbal gruel (Kola Kenda) program to support student health. Medical clinics are conducted for both students and teachers, ensuring regular health support. It also provides first aid during school events and has achieved recognition at zonal and national levels, including gold awards.
Provide students the chance to improve English language Vocabulary, Logical thinking and practice them to use the dictonary...Enhancing their English knowledge and ability to memorize spellings ..This is an interesting activity which the students can learn in a funny way.
Theme: "Experience the Power of Reality"
The Astronomy Society is dedicated to exploring the wonders of the universe and celestial patterns. Through various active programs and hands-on experiences, the society helps students understand the reality of the cosmos and the science behind the stars.
This society has a long history dating back to the school’s beginnings and currently operates with two Little Friends teams and three Girl Guide teams. The Little Friends group was officially registered at the Girl Guide Headquarters on May 23, 1978. It continues to follow the guiding principle “Be Prepared” for both junior and senior members aged 12 and above.
Theme: "Fulfilling duties to Religion and Country"
Established on April 1, 2014, the Scout Association focuses on producing law-abiding and disciplined students who respect the Scout Law. Membership includes Cub Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Junior Scouts.
This society focuses on developing students’ communication skills while providing a structured media service for the school. It manages school events, daily morning broadcasts, and announcing duties. The society also organizes the annual “Sandhwani” Media Day, creating opportunities for collaboration with sister schools. Through these activities, it helps students build confidence and media-related skills.
Theme: "Seeing the beautiful world through the lens"
The Photography Society encourages students to capture the world creatively. By combining artistic imagination with technical skill, students participate in competitions and are responsible for documenting the memories of all special school events.
Established to develop courageous, self-confident, and disciplined young women, this organization focuses on building responsibility and leadership qualities for future societal roles. The Kitty (Junior) program was introduced to the Primary Section in 2008. Currently, around 100 students actively participate in both Kitty and Cadet programs. Members receive annual training and take part in national-level camps. Over the years, they have achieved numerous victories and recognition through these activities.
